Day 1: Arrive in Arusha

Activity: Arrival in Arusha and trek briefing
Accommodation: Hotel in Arusha
Upon your arrival in Arusha, you’ll be welcomed by your trekking team. After settling in, you’ll have a briefing about the upcoming climb, equipment checks, and an overview of what to expect. This is also a great time to explore the local culture and cuisine.

Day 2: Nalemoru Gate to Simba Camp

Elevation: 1,950m (6,398ft) to 2,600m (8,530ft)
Distance: 9 km (5.6 miles)
Hiking Time: 4-5 hours
Habitat: Montane Forest
The trek begins at the Nalemoru Gate, where you’ll hike through dense montane forest. The path is relatively gentle, allowing for easy acclimatization. As you walk, enjoy the sounds of nature and the chance to spot local wildlife. Arrive at Simba Camp in the early afternoon, where you can relax and take in views of the surrounding landscape.

Day 3: Simba Camp to Second Cave Camp

Day 6: Mawenzi Tarn Camp – Acclimatization Day

This day is dedicated to acclimatization. You’ll take a day hike to the base of Mawenzi Peak or explore the surrounding area, allowing your body to adjust to the altitude. This rest day is crucial for your success in the following days.

Day 7: Mawenzi Tarn Camp to Uhuru Peak via Gilman’s Point

Elevation: 4,330m (14,200ft) to 5,895m (19,341ft)
Distance: 12 km (7.5 miles)
Hiking Time: 8-12 hours
Habitat: Arctic
Starting early, you’ll hike towards Gilman’s Point and then onward to Uhuru Peak, the highest point on Kilimanjaro. The trek is challenging but incredibly rewarding as you witness stunning sunrises and breathtaking views from the summit. After spending some time at the peak for photos, you’ll descend to Kibo Hut for a well-deserved rest.

Day 8: Kibo Hut to Horombo Camp
