Day 1: Machame Gate to Machame Camp

Your adventure begins with a drive from Moshi to the Machame Gate. After registration, you will begin your trek through the lush rainforest, where you’ll encounter diverse flora and fauna. The trail is well-marked, and the climb is gradual, leading to Machame Camp for your first overnight stay.

Day 2: Machame Camp to Shira Camp

Elevation: 3,000m to 3,840m

A relatively short day leads you to Barafu Camp, the base camp for your summit attempt. You will have time to rest, eat, and prepare for the final ascent. Make sure to sleep early, as the summit push begins around midnight.

Day 6: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp

Elevation: 4,640m to 5,895m (Uhuru Peak), down to 3,068m (Mweka Camp)
Distance: 5 km ascent, 12 km descent
Hiking Time: 10-14 hours
Habitat: Arctic, then Rainforest
Around midnight, you will start your ascent to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. The trek is slow and steady, with frequent breaks to combat altitude sickness. Reaching the summit at sunrise is a rewarding experience. After celebrating your achievement, you’ll descend to Mweka Camp for your final night on the mountain.

Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate

After breakfast, you’ll descend through the lush rainforest to Mweka Gate, where your driver will be waiting to take you back to Moshi. You will receive a certificate for your incredible achievement.
