Day-to-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Moshi. Meet your climbing team, review the itinerary, and prepare for the trek. Overnight stay in Moshi.

Day 3: Big Tree Camp to Shira Camp 1

Elevation: 2,650m to 3,500m
Distance: 8km
Time: 5-6 hours
Trek through the moorland zone to Shira Camp 1. Enjoy expansive views of the Shira Plateau, one of Kilimanjaro’s most impressive natural features.

Day 4: Shira Camp 1 to Shira Camp 2

Elevation: 3,500m to 3,900m
Distance: 6km
Time: 3-4 hours
A relatively short trek today as you cross the Shira Plateau to Shira Camp 2. Use the afternoon to acclimatize and relax at camp.

Day 5: Shira Camp 2 to Barranco Camp via Lava Tower

Elevation: 3,900m to 4,600m (Lava Tower) and descend to 3,950m (Barranco Camp)
Distance: 10km
Time: 6-8 hours
Climb to Lava Tower for acclimatization, then descend to Barranco Camp. This “climb high, sleep low” strategy helps your body adjust to the higher altitude, preparing you for the summit.

Day 6: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Elevation: 3,950m to 4,200m
Distance: 6km
Time: 4-5 hours
Tackle the Barranco Wall and trek to Karanga Camp. Enjoy stunning views of the surrounding landscapes and rest for the night.

Day 7: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Elevation: 4,200m to 4,640m
Distance: 4km
Time: 4-5 hours
Ascend to Barafu Camp, the final base before your summit push. Rest, eat, and prepare for the early morning ascent to Uhuru Peak.

Day 8: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (Summit) and Descend to Mweka Camp

Elevation: 4,640m to 5,895m (Uhuru Peak) and descend to 3,100m (Mweka Camp)
Distance: 5km ascent, 12km descent
Time: 10-14 hours
Start your summit push in the early morning, reaching Uhuru Peak at sunrise. After celebrating at the top of Africa, descend to Mweka Camp for a well-deserved rest.

Day 9: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate and Departure

Elevation: 3,100m to 1,800m
Distance: 10km
Time: 3-4 hours
Complete your descent to Mweka Gate, where you will receive your summit certificate. Transfer back to Moshi for your departure or extend your stay if desired.
