Itinerary for the 7-Day Rongai Route

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi

Upon your arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport, you will be transferred to your hotel in Moshi for a pre-climb briefing and equipment check.

Day 2: Rongai Gate (1,950m) to Simba Camp (2,625m)
The journey begins with a scenic drive to the Rongai Gate. After completing registration, we start the trek through plantations and pine forests, ending at Simba Camp for an overnight stay.

Day 3: Simba Camp (2,625m) to Second Cave (3,450m)
Today’s trek provides stunning views of Kenya’s expansive plains. The gradual climb continues towards Second Cave, where you’ll rest and acclimatize.

Day 4: Second Cave (3,450m) to Kikelewa Camp (3,600m)
The route ascends across the moorland towards Kikelewa Camp, passing the looming Kibo peak as the alpine desert begins to unfold. After reaching Kikelewa, the group enjoys dinner and prepares for the next day.

Day 5: Kikelewa Camp (3,600m) to Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330m)
This day involves a steeper climb towards Mawenzi Tarn. You will camp near the tarn, directly beneath the towering Mawenzi peaks, one of Kilimanjaro’s three volcanic cones.

Day 6: Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330m) to Kibo Hut (4,700m)
After crossing the lunar-like saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo, we reach Kibo Hut. Here, you’ll rest and prepare for the midnight summit attempt.

Day 7: Kibo Hut (4,700m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) to Horombo Hut (3,720m)
The final push begins at midnight, trekking under the stars toward the summit. After reaching Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa, we descend to Horombo Hut for a well-earned rest.

Day 8: Horombo Hut (3,720m) to Marangu Gate (1,860m)
A gentle descent through the rainforest brings us to Marangu Gate. After a celebration with your guides and team, you will be transferred back to Moshi for a relaxing evening.
