Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport, where you’ll be met by our team and transferred to your hotel in Moshi. Take this time to rest and prepare for the climb, while meeting your guide to go over the expedition details.

After breakfast, transfer to Rongai Gate, near the Kenyan border, for registration. The day’s trek begins through fields and forests, where you might see local wildlife. Arrive at Simba Camp for dinner and overnight.

Day 3: Simba Camp to Second Cave Camp (3,450m)

  • Distance: 11 km / 6.8 miles
  • Elevation Gain: +825m

Continue your trek, ascending through the moorland zone. The trail provides spectacular views of Kibo Peak and the eastern ice fields on the crater rim. Reach Second Cave Camp for the night.

Day 4: Second Cave Camp to Kikelewa Camp (3,600m)

Day 5: Kikelewa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn Camp (4,330m)

Day 6: Mawenzi Tarn Camp to Kibo Hut (4,703m)

Cross the lunar landscape of the “Saddle” between Mawenzi and Kibo peaks. Reach Kibo Hut, where you will have an early dinner and rest in preparation for the summit attempt.

Day 7: Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) – Horombo Hut (3,720m)

  • Hiking Time: 10-15 hours (summit day)
  • Distance: 21 km / 13 miles (total)
  • Elevation Gain: +1,192m
  • Elevation Loss: -2,175m

Begin the final ascent around midnight, trekking in the darkness towards the summit. Reach Gilman’s Point (5,685m) on the crater rim, and then continue along the trail to Uhuru Peak, the highest point in Africa. After celebrating your achievement, descend to Kibo Hut for a short rest, then continue to Horombo Hut.

Day 8: Horombo Hut to Marangu Gate (1,870m) – Moshi

  • Hiking Time: 5-7 hours
  • Distance: 20 km / 12.4 miles
  • Elevation Loss: -1,850m

Descend through the moorland and lush forest to Marangu Gate. After signing out, transfer back to your hotel in Moshi for a well-deserved rest.
