Day-to-Day Itinerary
Day 1: Arrival in Moshi
Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Moshi. Meet your climbing team, review the itinerary, and prepare for the trek. Overnight stay in Moshi.
Day 2: Moshi to Machame Gate and Trek to Machame Camp
Elevation: 1,800m to 3,000m
Distance: 11km
Time: 5-7 hours
Transfer to Machame Gate for registration. Begin your trek through lush rainforest to Machame Camp. Enjoy dinner and rest at the camp.
Day 3: Machame Camp to Shira Camp
Elevation: 3,000m to 3,850m
Distance: 5km
Time: 4-6 hours
Continue your ascent across the moorland zone to Shira Camp. Marvel at the stunning views and prepare for the higher altitude.
Day 4: Shira Camp to Barranco Camp
Elevation: 3,850m to 3,960m
Distance: 10km
Time: 6-8 hours
Trek through the alpine desert to Barranco Camp. Enjoy the breathtaking scenery and the dramatic Barranco Wall, which you will tackle the following day.
Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp
Elevation: 3,960m to 4,200m
Distance: 7km
Time: 4-5 hours
Climb the Barranco Wall and then descend into the Karanga Valley. Trek to Karanga Camp, a great spot for acclimatization and rest.
Day 6: Karanga Camp to Uhuru Peak (Summit) and Descend to Mweka Camp
Elevation: 4,200m to 5,895m (Uhuru Peak) and descend to 3,100m
Distance: 5km ascent, 12km descent
Time: 10-14 hours
Begin your summit push in the early hours. Reach Uhuru Peak, celebrate your achievement, then descend to Mweka Camp for rest.
Day 7: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate and Departure
Elevation: 3,100m to 1,800m
Distance: 10km
Time: 3-4 hours
Complete your descent to Mweka Gate. Receive your summit certificate and transfer back to Moshi for your departure or extend your stay if desired.
