Day-to-Day Itinerary

Day 1: Arrival in Moshi

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport and transfer to your hotel in Moshi. Meet your climbing team, review the itinerary, and prepare for the trek. Overnight stay in Moshi.

Day 2: Moshi to Lemosho Gate and Trek to Big Tree Camp

Elevation: 1,800m to 2,650m
Distance: 6km
Time: 4-5 hours
Transfer to Lemosho Gate for registration. Begin your trek through lush rainforest to Big Tree Camp. Enjoy dinner and rest at the camp.

Day 3: Big Tree Camp to Shira Camp 1

Elevation: 2,650m to 3,500m
Distance: 8km
Time: 5-6 hours
Continue your ascent across the moorland zone to Shira Camp 1. Enjoy the breathtaking views of the Shira Plateau and acclimatize.

Day 4: Shira Camp 1 to Shira Camp 2

Elevation: 3,500m to 3,900m
Distance: 5km
Time: 3-4 hours
Trek from Shira Camp 1 to Shira Camp 2, gaining altitude and allowing for acclimatization. Explore the Shira Plateau and prepare for the next day’s trek.

Day 5: Shira Camp 2 to Barranco Camp

Distance: 10km
Time: 6-8 hours
Traverse the alpine desert to Barranco Camp, passing the Lava Tower for additional acclimatization. Enjoy the dramatic Barranco Wall, which you will tackle the following day.

Day 6: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

Elevation: 3,960m to 4,200m
Distance: 7km
Time: 4-5 hours
Climb the Barranco Wall and descend into the Karanga Valley. Trek to Karanga Camp, a great spot for acclimatization and rest.

Day 7: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Elevation: 4,200m to 4,600m
Distance: 4km
Time: 4-5 hours
Continue your ascent to Barafu Camp, located near the summit. Rest and prepare for the final push to the peak. Early dinner and rest.

Day 8: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak (Summit) and Descend to Mweka Camp

Elevation: 4,600m to 5,895m (Uhuru Peak) and descend to 3,100m
Distance: 5km ascent, 12km descent
Time: 10-14 hours
Begin your summit push in the early hours. Reach Uhuru Peak, celebrate your achievement, and then descend to Mweka Camp for rest.

Day 9: Mweka Camp to Mweka Gate and Departure

Elevation: 3,100m to 1,800m
Distance: 10km
Time: 3-4 hours
Complete your descent to Mweka Gate. Receive your summit certificate and transfer back to Moshi for your departure or extend your stay if desired.
