Day 1: Arrival in Tanzania
Arrival: Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO)
Transfer: To your hotel in Arusha or Moshi. In the evening, meet your guide for a pre-climb briefing and final gear check. Rest and prepare for the adventure.
Overnight: Hotel in Arusha/Moshi.
Day 2: Marangu Gate (1,860m) to Mandara Hut (2,700m)
Distance: 8 km

After breakfast, transfer to Marangu Gate, where the climb begins. The first day’s trek passes through a lush rainforest, filled with towering trees, exotic plants, and wildlife. The trail is well-maintained but can be muddy, especially during the rainy season. Arrive at Mandara Hut in the late afternoon, where you’ll spend the night in comfortable huts.

Day 3: Mandara Hut (2,700m) to Horombo Hut (3,720m)

Habitat: Moorland
Leaving the rainforest behind, you’ll ascend into the moorland zone, characterized by tall grasses and heather. You’ll enjoy panoramic views of Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks. The day’s trek offers a moderate ascent as you reach Horombo Hut, where you’ll settle in for dinner and a good night’s rest.

Day 4: Acclimatization Day at Horombo Hut
Optional Hike: Trek to Zebra Rocks (3,980m)

This extra day is critical for acclimatization, increasing your chances of summit success. You can take an optional hike to Zebra Rocks, a fascinating rock formation with distinctive black and white stripes. Day 5: Horombo Hut (3,720m) to Kibo Hut (4,703m)

Today’s trek takes you across the Saddle between Mawenzi and Kibo Peaks, a barren and rocky landscape with little vegetation. The trail becomes more challenging as you approach Kibo Hut at 4,703m. Arrive in the late afternoon, have an early dinner, and rest for the midnight summit attempt.

Day 6: Kibo Hut (4,703m) to Uhuru Peak (5,895m) and Descend to Horombo Hut (3,720m)
Distance: 21 km (8 km ascent, 13 km descent)
Hiking Time: 10-15 hours
Habitat: Arctic, Alpine Desert, Moorland
Your summit attempt begins around midnight. The trek to Uhuru Peak is steep and challenging, passing through the Gilman’s Point at the crater rim (5,685m) and continuing to the summit. Reaching Uhuru Peak the highest point in Africa is a life-changing moment, offering breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape. After celebrating at the top, descend back to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved rest.

Day 7: Horombo Hut (3,720m) to Marangu Gate (1,860m)
Distance: 20 km
Hiking Time: 5-7 hours
Habitat: Rainforest
Descend through the lush rainforest back to Marangu Gate, where you’ll receive your summit certificates. Afterward, you’ll be transferred back to your hotel in Arusha or Moshi for a hot shower and rest.

Day 8: Departure
Transfer: To Kilimanjaro International Airport for your onward journey.
