Today, you’ll tackle the famous Barranco Wall – a thrilling scramble up a near-vertical face. After conquering the Wall, the path gradually leads you to Karanga Camp, where you’ll acclimatize.
Day 4: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp
Elevation: 3,995m to 4,673m
Distance: 4km
Hiking Time: 4-5 hours
Habitat: Alpine Desert
This day involves a shorter hike, allowing your body to adjust to the altitude. Upon reaching Barafu Camp, you’ll have time to rest and prepare for the final push to the summit later that night.
Day 5: Barafu Camp to Uhuru Peak to Mweka Camp
Elevation: 4,673m to 5,895m (Summit) to 3,100m
Distance: 17km
Hiking Time: 11-15 hours
Habitat: Arctic (Summit) / Moorland (Descent)
At midnight, you’ll start your ascent to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the roof of Africa. After reaching the summit and taking in the incredible views, you’ll begin your descent down to Mweka Camp, where you’ll enjoy a well-earned rest.
