Itinerary Highlights

Day 1: Rongai Gate to Simba Camp
Start your adventure at the Rongai Gate. The climb begins through lush rainforest, where you may spot wildlife, including colobus monkeys. Reach Simba Camp (2,625m) for an overnight stay.

Day 2: Simba Camp to Second Cave
Trek through open moorlands, enjoying stunning views of Kibo and the Eastern ice fields. Arrive at Second Cave (3,450m), where you’ll rest and acclimatize.

Day 3: Second Cave to Kikelewa Camp
Continue your ascent through an alpine zone with views of Kibo’s imposing summit. After a moderate climb, arrive at Kikelewa Camp (3,600m), where you’ll spend the night.

Day 4: Kikelewa Camp to Mawenzi Tarn
A steeper trek takes you to Mawenzi Tarn (4,330m), located in the shadow of Mawenzi Peak. The scenic surroundings and proximity to Mawenzi’s rugged terrain offer incredible photo opportunities.

Day 5: Mawenzi Tarn to Kibo Hut
Today’s trek crosses the lunar-like desert between Mawenzi and Kibo, bringing you to Kibo Hut (4,700m). After an early dinner, rest up for your midnight summit attempt.

Day 6: Summit Day – Kibo Hut to Uhuru Peak
The highlight of your climb! Depart at midnight to reach Gilman’s Point at dawn, then continue to Uhuru Peak (5,895m), the highest point in Africa. After celebrating your achievement, descend to Horombo Hut for a well-deserved rest.
